Inaugural Post!
I am an almost 28 year old wife and mother of 4. I am a survivor of the ‘emerging church’, which disguises itself under MANY different names.
New Apostolic Reformation, Kingdom Now, Joel’s Army, IHOP, to name a teensy few.
If it had not been for me finding a small flaw in the writings of a ‘modern day prophet’ I may still be involved.
By God’s grace, I had enough sense to go to the Bible and find out that the ‘prophet’ was dead wrong.
Almost all my friends are/ were extremely heavily involved in the prophetic movements– I had to make a hard decision to either follow the Lord’s honest true and infallable word, or just go with the flow.
I chose the Lord. His Word never returned void and never will. Man will always fail us. He never has and never will.
Gods blessings and discernment be with you as you read what I have to say and anything others may have to say on Christianity, God, and Scriptures.
Never just take someone’s word for it. Even mine. Go search it out!! I want to encourage everyone to search the Scriptures and be as a wise Berean as mentioned in Acts 17:11.
Love in Christ,
Amanda <><

Thank you for all your words of encouragement to SadParent on the Bulletin Board website. I’m old enough to be your mother but your words have really been the shot in my arm that I really needed. Thank you! Sally
Amanda,
I doubt you’re old enough to be my Mom. I remember where I was and what I was doing the day JFK was killed! I’m a bonified Baby Boomer! I see where the Bulletin board – Sign of Jonah is no longer. Where did they go off to? You are welcome to e-mail me at work – sally_matthews@cargill.com — Thanks and have a fantastic day!
I sent you an email
I’ll probably get it today when I go in. (3ish)
=)
If you sent it last night at 6:43 though, I did NOT get it.
Hope the company I.T. didn’t block it thinking it was spam!
If it’s not in there this evening, I’ll give you another address.
Thank you so much!
Sally
Holler at me at work when you feel like it.
SAM a.k.a. Sally
Dear Amanda,
I can see that even within the church, there are cult like experiences to get over. It can be so confusing sometimes when an emerging religion speaks enough truth to take you in or as you say are thinking that their interpretation is correct. Because of my past experiences, I have kept myself protected and very focused on the Bible based teaching Churches. I guess that is why when I read “Heaven is so Real” I felt twisted around. The book was loaned to me by a new, but dear friend and neighbor who also attends Calvary Chapel. She has a degree in Theology and yet she was almost delighted to read this book as a message to continue to purify herself for the hope of entering Heaven. So, even credible sources can leave you with a queezy feeling in the pit of your stomach. Your message to keep going back to the word is well made and well taken.
I notice from reading many comments that there is an intellectual hunger even among die hard Christians. May I offer a thought that keeps replaying in my mind as I read…..It is our human pride in our intellect that winds up betraying us in the end. We have such a hunger to know things; hence the obsession with Prophets….If we can only try to remain as innocent children believing the basic Bible message as Jesus asked us to, we would not be trying to recreate what has already been written. Please forgive me if my way of expressing this thought leaves you dry. you are very smart and experienced in these matters, much more so than I, so it is my hope that you will understand my thought process.
Has your journey through the different churches made an impact on the faith of your children? I only have one precious daughter who rejected my progression from Jewdaism to Christianity. She chose to reject all religion and calls herself agnostic. She just turned 21 yesterday and my heart is so full of love for her and I pray day and night for her salvation. I could weep right now with my desire for her to know real love…the love of Christ. I would so appreciate prayers on her behalf.
Thank you so much, Amanda, and anyone else who hears my plea.
Linda,
Shalom, my dear, completed-Jewish sister! I say this with the utmost love of the Lord!
Your 21 y.o. daughter is being lifted in prayer.
I myself am formerly Word of Faith. Only recently have I learned that all I took away from being there was in error. Now my son is in IHOP as is his wife and mother and sisters in law.
I pray the Lord Jesus take away the blinders from all of their eyes.
We have many posts in facebook also if you’re just beginning to look for sites. There is MUCH support on line and we need it!
